HOME //// STARTSEITE
I've seen a lot of people making site manifestos on the indieweb, and I've been back on my neocities kick recently as of writing this, so I thought I'd type something up to explain my goals and such with this site.
The purpose of this site's existence is to express myself and share links to places where people can contact me, as stated in my intro.
To keep the site about me, the things I write will to the best of my ability be my own, although I do fact-check and end up unwittingly paraphrasing from that (I try my best to credit and recognize such things). This also means I do not use AI to make any content on here, although I refrain from putting "no AI" just in case I want to cover topics relating to AI and happen to include some not-by-me examples (this will probably be rare though)
The beliefs expressed on this site will be my own, although what I say once isn't my final take forever. This feels kinda obvious, but I'll put this here anyway.
This site is made to be incredibly minimalistic, with only the purpose of displaying the text and files I want displayed and not much else. The reason for this is ease-of-use, site performance, my own sense of aesthetics, and my own frustrations with website bloat and having to allow things through my blocker.
This means using simple html and css, and NO Javascript -- the one exception being the one Twine game on here, which I only uploaded as a sort of test (although it would be cool to make more text games! Definitely an idea for the future and an exception to the "no JS" I'm willing to make).
This site, altough it would be nice to get to work with mobile, is made with desktop/laptop in mind. I've checked on mobile and it certainly doesn't look good, but is technically functional.
I share the general stance that the web is too centralized and too corporate. This is, I assume, the general stance that leads basically everyone to indiewebbing.
If you're here; check out the neocities I'm following, are following me, or just go looking around for yourself!
Also, on a tangential but related note, get into internet privacy and adblocking. There's a good guide at https://willa.magland.org/internet-guide/ , with the caveats that I would recommend metasearch engines like 4get and searx, as well as redirection to privacy-respecting frontends through the libredirect extension.
